One of the major problems listed in the United Nations Millennium Development goals is Maternal Health. It is a major issue especially in rural parts of the developing countries like India. Lack of facilities, doctors and adequate systems are some of the factors which contribute to the problem. System. The system is focused upon providing comprehensive health care facility to pregnant women with simple technical intervention to solve this challending problem.
The team has come is with the solution “PregnaCare System” which integrates Information Technology and embedded systems to solve the problem. The PrenaCare system not only bridges the gap between the government agencies (Public Health Centre (PHC) and main hospital) but also between citizens and the government. The Robustness, Reliability and Portability incorporated in the device are central in providing a medical support system for women. We have focused our attention primarily upon the following:
a. Reducing the distance barrier between the patient and doctor
b. Ensuring proper scheduling of medicines, vaccination and appointments for the patient and infant.
c. A software system which interacts with the hardware to maintain a comprehensive repository of information about the patient.
d. Reducing the illiteracy and the language barrier so as to allow a constraint free method of medical care.
